It’s Hot Y’All.

It’s Gonna Be a HOT Summer

The gist is this Summer season temperatures just touched down in South Florida and it’s HOTTTTT! It’s not even officially summer yet either. Summer is a very special time of the year for trips, reunions, and milestone celebrations. Everyone feels uplifted and wants to celebrate. It's all about that feeling, that aesthetic, and that spirit of the summer. Summer is this very finite time for most of you who don’t have warm weather year-round. For the next three months, emotions are heightened, and relationships along with friendships are more passionate and interesting. People want to feel good and have images to showcase their sunshine state of mind.

The summer vacay requests are coming in and I just wanted everyone to be mindful of a few things while you’re planning and share some local tips about Florida (Miami-Fort Lauderdale) summer weather.

The heat is different here.

Don’t think 80 degrees is the same as 80 degrees anywhere else in the country. It’s tropical here so the humidity is on all four cylinders now. It’s natural-hair friendly. Forget the straight looks. You’re wasting your money because as soon as you get off the plane those bumps in your curl are now frizz. Protective styles and natural ALL the way.

Summer Tips on Keeping Your Body Cool:

  1. Don’t book a photoshoot at 12 noon - 2 pm (please). It’s the hottest time of the day. Even in the shade. You (or I) won’t even last 3o minutes and I live here in South Florida.

  2. Rain lasts a minute here. You can always bet on an afternoon shower. It’s meant to cool down the place after a day of extreme heat. Mornings are always best for a photoshoot. Avoid scheduling a photoshoot in the afternoons. Mother Nature is fair game until 3 pm. It’s always advisable to look at the hourly forecast because it changes quickly here.

  3. The best time for a photoshoot is early morning or after 4 pm. Trust.

  4. If you drink alcohol and/or caffeine, you will sweat even more (FYI).

  5. Hydrate and bring ice. Placing ice at the back of your neck will not only keep your body cool, but it will slow down heatstroke symptoms.

  6. Reapply sunscreen every two hours to protect your skin.

  7. Dollar Store Portable fans or a hand fan puts you in boss-mode, oh-k!
